Privacy policy

Last updated: October 28, 2026

This policy explains what information kellyeadon.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. The site belongs to author Kelly Eadon and is run for her by Beware the Ides, her marketing agency. We keep it simple: no ads, no selling or renting your information, and no tracking cookies.

What we collect

If you join the newsletter or become a member

  • Your email address and, if you give it, your name. We use them to send "Letters from Kelly" and to let you sign in to the site.
  • Which page you signed up from, so Kelly knows which parts of the site bring readers in.
  • Whether you open a newsletter and which links you click. This tells Kelly what readers enjoy. It works through a tiny image and redirected links in the email.
  • Comments you post, along with your name, if you comment on a post.

If you just visit

  • Anonymous visit statistics from Umami, which we host ourselves: pages viewed, the site that sent you, and your general location, browser and device type. Umami doesn't use cookies or keep your IP address, and it can't identify you.
  • Standard server logs (IP address, browser, the page requested) kept briefly for security and to fix problems.

If you email us

Messages to contact@kellyeadon.com are kept in our mailbox so we can reply.

Cookies

Ordinary visitors get no cookies. If you sign in as a member, the site sets a cookie that keeps you signed in, and nothing else. We don't use advertising or social-media tracking cookies, so there's no cookie banner.

Who helps us run the site

We share only what each service needs to do its job:

  • Amazon Web Services (United States) hosts the site and its database.
  • Mailgun (United States) delivers the newsletter.
  • Proton Mail (Switzerland) delivers sign-in emails and holds our inbox.
  • jsDelivr serves some of the site's scripts, which means your browser connects to it while you browse.

Links to bookstores (such as Bookshop.org and Amazon) take you to their sites, where their own privacy policies apply. Some of those links may be affiliate links, which earn Kelly a small commission at no cost to you. Links from this site to other sites mention kellyeadon.com as the referrer.

How long we keep it

Member and newsletter details stay until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your account. Backups are kept for a limited time and then deleted. Visit statistics are kept only in aggregate.

Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe with the link at the bottom of any newsletter.
  • See, correct or delete your details from your account page, or by emailing contact@kellyeadon.com.
  • Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights, such as getting a copy of your data or objecting to how it's used. Email us and we'll help.

Children

This site is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information (for example when paid memberships arrive), we'll update this page and the date at the top.
